Spurs offered chance to sign Bernardo Silva

According to The Daily Mail, Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign Bernardo Silva by Manchester City as the Premier League champions continue their pursuit of Harry Kane.

The Lowdown: Kane future remains uncertain

Kane’s future at Tottenham remains uncertain. He has already expressed his desire to leave north London this summer (Sky Sports), while he missed several days of training to further illustrate his point (talkSPORT).

Manchester City are the club most interested in capturing his services, with Pep Guardiola admitting that he would love to capture the 28-year-old (The Guardian).

The Latest: Spurs offered Silva

As per this latest report, Spurs have been offered Silva in part exchange for Kane.

The Citizens are unwilling to offer the £150m that Tottenham reportedly want for the striker, so their best chance of striking a deal may be to offer a player in exchange as well as cash.

The Verdict: Worth a punt?

Of course, losing Kane would be a huge loss for Spurs. After all, he has 221 goals in 336 games for the club and has been their talisman for years (Transfermarkt). Losing him would leave a huge hole up front for Nuno Espirito Santo which he would need to replace, and he would need a lot of money to do that.

However, capturing Silva and bankrolling millions of pounds at the same time could well be a win for Tottenham. Since signing for City in 2017, the £63m-valued 26-year-old (Transfermarkt) has scored 35 goals and provided 44 assists in 202 games for the club.

He has been called “unstoppable” by Pep Guardiola (acefootball.com) and has even been compared to Manchester City legend David Silva (Goal.com). Signing him without paying a fee would be a great signing for Spurs, even if it meant losing Kane.

In other news, Tottenham want to sign this two-time Champions League winner.

Sports minister doesn't ratify Twenty20 squad

The squad chosen for the Canada Cup Four Nation 20/20 has not got the approval of sports minister Gamini Lokuge

Cricinfo staff21-Sep-2008The squad chosen for the Canada Cup Four Nation 20/20 has not got the approval of sports minister Gamini Lokuge because he is considering a complaint from 35-year-old batsman Indika de Saram, who hasn’t been selected.”I have had a letter from de Saram,” Lokuge told AFP. “Also there was no name of a team manager in the team sheet sent to me. So I have returned it to Sri Lanka Cricket.”de Saram met Lokuge on Friday and complained about his exclusion despite good performances in local competitions, reported. de Saram had captained Sri Lanka in their victorious campaign at this year’s Hong Kong Sixes and is also a wicketkeeper. The squad selected for the Twenty20 tournament does not include a specialist wicketkeeper. Aston Villa could sign a new Downing in McNeil

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith could sign the club’s new Stewart Downing in Burnley winger Dwight McNeil this summer.

What’s the story?

The Telegraph had recently revealed that Villa still have the 21-year-old high up on their target list as they look to strengthen the squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

Football Insider then suggested that the Midlands club would turn their attentions towards the England under-21 international if they can’t get a deal done for Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe.

The Liverpool Echo have now claimed that while Everton have joined the race to land McNeil, but it’s Smith’s side who are currently in pole position to lure him away from Turf Moor this summer.

Villa’s new Downing

The £34m-rated McNeil has been one of the few standout players for Sean Dyche’s side in recent seasons, and the Burnley manager has been quick to praise his young prospect.

The 50-year-old said: “He’s a real talent. He’s a really good player, he’s improving, his calmness at the end – I’m saying get it in the corner – but he cuts in, and his calmness to cross it into a dangerous area, and then gets his reward. Before then, his calmness to dribble out of trouble – he’s a really good player, really good, and he can only mature.”

A left-winger who plays on the left (rather unusual nowadays), McNeil offers much of the same threat that Downing posed when he was in his prime at Villa Park.

Before his high-profile switch to Liverpool, the former England international enjoyed some good times at the club, including a 2010/11 season which saw him pick up both the Players’ Player and Fans’ Player of the Year awards.

He scored 11 goals and provided 14 assists in 79 games for Villa, and when you compare that 2010/11 campaign to what McNeil produced last season, there’s a lot to like.

As per WhoScored, Downing averaged 2.1 crosses and 0.7 dribbles per game compared to McNeil’s 1.4 crosses and 1.8 dribbles per match in the top flight – both have that ability to not only get to the byline and beat their man, but also deliver the kind of pinpoint cross off of which strikers can feed.

McNeil is very much a throwback with his style of play, and Smith could help unlock that “talent” which Dyche has hailed.

With Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta already insisting Smith Rowe will be going nowhere, Villa should turn their attentions firmly towards McNeil and forget about the Gunners starlet.

Meanwhile, Ashley Preece has dropped an exciting Aston Villa transfer update…

7,5

Expulso no fim.

6,5
Marquinhos Calazans

5,0
Marcos Junior

6,0
Sornoza

Southampton fans react to Christie link

Many Southampton fans want the club to sign Ryan Christie after they were linked with a move for the Celtic midfielder.

The Saints are planning ahead for the new campaign after finishing in a lowly 15th place in the Premier League last term. Ralph Hasenhuttl has revealed that Southampton will unlikely be able to spend more than £10m on any one player this summer (Sky Sports), so they will need to be clever in the transfer market.

However, it seems they may have found themselves a very good deal if they can pull it off. According to The Sunday Post (via The Scotsman), the Saints are interested in signing Christie, who is reportedly keen to leave Scotland this summer and could be available for just over £1m – an absolute bargain for a player who has managed 65 goals and 68 assists throughout his career and is rated at £6.3m by Transfermarkt.

The news was shared on Twitter by @SaintsExtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from Southampton supporters. These fans took to the social media platform to share their thoughts on the speculation as they again seek to raid Celtic, from whom the Saints also purchased Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanyama and Stuart Armstrong.

It’s all change at Hampshire County Cricket Club with today’s unveiling of a re-branded identity and the announcement that the Club is now to be known as `Hampshire Cricket’.

Media Release11-Mar-2002It’s all change at Hampshire County Cricket Club with today’s unveiling of a re-branded identity and the announcement that the Club is now to be known as `Hampshire Cricket’.The move to re-brand Hampshire is in line with the company’s development strategy. This month, Hampshire makes history by becoming the first professional cricket club to convert to a plc via their parent company, Rose Bowl plc. A Public Offer opened on March 4th 2002 and the Club aims to raise a further £5 million to supplement the £18 million already spent on the 150-acre Rose Bowl site at West End, Southampton.Evolving from the traditional Rose and Crown icon and retaining the blue and yellow Club colours, the new logo reflects the exciting developments at the Club. The new brand has a fresh and contemporary style in order to reflect the dynamic values of the Club. The Hampshire Hawks logo has also been updated to integrate with the new Club brand and image.A new brand identity has been created for Rose Bowl plc based on the modern design of the new Pavilion’s highly unusual, canopied roof. This will act as the umbrella brand under which the individual Hampshire Cricket, Hampshire County Golf Club and Connor’s Health & Fitness brands will operate. All the new identities have been created by a London-based brand design consultancy, the-field, whose managing director, Simon Barbato, commented: "Rather than create a new identity for Hampshire at the risk of alienating a wide audience, we concentrated on gently evolving the badge whilst retaining the Club colours A visual communication strategy has also been created that reinforces the breadth of sporting, corporate and entertainment opportunities at the Rose Bowl through a wide array of media."The re-branding will encompass all consumer literature, corporate sales materials, stadium signage, stationery, identity guidelines and an interactive digital presentation to promote sponsorship and venue naming rights opportunities."The new brand identities and design strategy positions Hampshire as a contemporary and dynamic club in what is still a traditional market." said Samantha White, group commercial & marketing director, "We believe that this will enable Hampshire to attract younger spectators to cricket and build a broader sports entertainments brand as well as enabling Rose Bowl plc to present a professional and authoritative tone to the city."
