QPR confirm Andre Dozzell transfer

Queens Park Rangers have confirmed the arrival of Andre Dozzell at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.

What’s the latest?

According to a statement posted on the QPR website, Amit Bhatia has completed the signing of the Ipswich Town midfielder on a three-year deal, with the club holding an option to extend the 22-year-old’s contract for a further season.

The East Anglian Daily Times report that Mark Warburton’s side activated a £1m buy-out clause in the £3.5k-per-week man’s contract at Portman Road, a clause that was inserted when the youngster signed a new deal with the League One side last December.

Following the confirmation of the transfer, Warburton went on record to state his delight with the club’s capture of the midfielder, saying: “We are delighted to bring Andre on board. He is a player who really fits the mould of what we are looking for – he is young with lots of potential and he has that adaptability to his game.”

Fans will be buzzing

Considering just how much of an exciting prospect Dozzell appears to be, the fact that QPR have acted so swiftly in signing the £810k-rated defensively-minded midfielder this summer is sure to leave fans of the club buzzing.

Indeed, over his 43 League One appearances for Paul Cook’s side last season, the former England U20 international provided one assist and created a whopping 10 big chances for his teammates, as well as making an average of 1.5 interceptions, 1.7 tackles and winning 3.6 duels per game.

Wth central midfielders Geoff Cameron and Tom Carroll both looking likely to depart the Kiyan Price Foundation Stadium this summer, the middle of the park was certainly an area in which the 58-year-old QPR manager needed to strengthen.

As such, with the signing of the Dozzell now in the bag, in addition to the confirmed arrivals of Sam Field, Jordy de Wijs and Charlie Austin, the Rs very much seem to have got off to a flyer with their summer transfer business, something that bodes incredibly well for the club’s upcoming Championship campaign.

Leicester trio would walk into most clubs

Former Leicester City striker Brian Deane has told Football FanCast in an exclusive interview that Youri Tielemans, Wilfred Ndidi and James Maddison would walk into most clubs.

This comes after reports claimed that the Foxes are closing in on a deal to sign Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare to bolster Brendan Rodgers’ options in the middle of the park even further.

The Northern Irishman’s current crop of midfielders have been excellent this season, with Tielemans impressing in particular.

It was, of course, his wonder strike that led Leicester to their first ever FA Cup triumph, and Deane believes the 24-year-old and a couple of his team-mates would get into most teams in world football.

Speaking exclusively to FFC about Leicester’s midfield options amid the Soumare news, Deane said:

“Those three players walk into most clubs. Tielemans is a Belgian international, Ndidi is a Nigerian international, very good player, you know, plays that defensive midfield role – a lot more people talking about him.

“And Maddison’s a young player, a young English player who has shown a lot of quality at times, so they have a good mix there. They’ve all got legs and all very good on the ball technically.

As well as Soumare, according to the MailOnline, Leicester could also bring in Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard and Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand, so Rodgers is certainly not resting on his laurels after a successful season at the King Power.

Steve Bull claims Doherty could return to Wolves - Exclusive

It was not the season that either Wolves or Matt Doherty had hoped for as the Midlands club finished 13th and the wing-back finished the season having been handed just 13 Premier League starts at Tottenham, so Wolves legend Steve Bull has refused to rule out a potential reunion this summer.

Nelson Semedo was Wolves’ second most expensive signing last summer but turned out to be one of their most underwhelming players after failing to emulate Doherty’s importance at Wolves, with the Portuguese international managing just one goal and assist.

There have been links suggesting that Doherty could find himself back at Molineux, however with Jose Mourinho now having left Tottenham Hotspur and Nuno Espirito Santo now not at Molineux, that move would appear more difficult to do.

Doherty was a firm fan favourite during his time at Wolves having been with the club from 2010 and his absence has truly been felt, especially in the final third, but Bull has claimed that a reunion could be on the cards this summer, as he explained exclusively to The Transfer Tavern:

“We might go back in for Doherty, you never know because we might try and get him on loan, who knows?

“I think there will be plenty of options but I think we need to look at centre midfield and up front to strengthen our squad.”

Something that could prove to be a stumbling block before discussions even start, is that one of Spurs’ other right-backs, Serge Aurier, has reportedly already agreed a deal to leave the club this summer, therefore seeing them allow two right-backs to leave would be unlikely.

Both Wolves and Spurs are still on the hunt for a new manager with Nuno Espirito Santo’s departure coming as much more of a shock to everyone associated with the club.

Sanchez backs Big Sam to stay at West Brom

Former Premier League manager Lawrie Sanchez has exclusively told The Transfer Tavern that he’s confident Sam Allardyce will stay at West Brom despite their relegation.

The Baggies’ brief stay in the Premier League was ended following their defeat at Arsenal last Sunday – with the 3-1 scoreline also ending the ex-England boss’ record of never being relegated in his managerial career.

Despite some impressive results against both Chelsea and Southampton last month, West Brom paid the price for winning just twice in their opening 25 matches, with Allardyce always chasing a what appeared a lost cause from the moment he replaced Slaven Bilic before Christmas.

Should Allardyce stay on at the Hawthorns, he’ll be managing in the second tier for the first time since getting West Ham promoted via the play-offs back in 2012.

The 66-year-old has managed England since he was last working in the Championship, but Sanchez believes that he’ll be desperate to get the Baggies back into the Premier League in a bid to make them a more well-rounded outfit should they go straight back up.

He told The Transfer Tavern:

“Sam is coming to the mature end of his career and he realises he won’t be offered loads of jobs – and West Brom are a big club in the Championship, great facilities as I understand it.

“If he has the budget that the parachute payments will allow, I think he thinks he can get the club back into the Premier League in the shape that he wants it to be, to be more of a force.

“So, 12 months, sat at West Brom, get another title under his belt, I think he will be happy with that because I don’t think there will be loads of Premier League clubs looking to tie him up at the end of the season.”

Villa must land Brighton’s Yves Bissouma

Aston Villa must land Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma in the summer transfer window amid Lee Hendrie’s verdict.

What’s the story?

Reports in recent weeks have suggested that Bissouma could be on his way out of the Seagulls this summer, with interested sides having to pay at least £40m to lure him away from the south coast.

And, speaking exclusively to FFC about Bissouma, former Villa ace Hendrie has suggested Dean Smith’s side should be in the conversation to sign him, and praised the midfielder for his ability.

He said: “I did a chat with myself and Paul Merson on Soccer Saturday a few weeks ago talking about Bissouma, and we highlighted what he actually does. I mean, his stats are absolutely phenomenal, the way he breaks the game up, his forward play.

“He’s got a good football brain. Like I said, when you’ve got someone who breaks the game up so well and can go join in and play, I’m inviting players like that to the football club.”

Gary Lineker loves him

Described as “very skilful”, former England striker and Match of the Day host Gary Lineker is seemingly a big fan of the powerhouse, hailing him as an “exceptional footballer” after a superb display against Everton just last month.

His teammate at Brighton, Dale Stephens, said: “He’s got the ability of perhaps a winger playing in central midfield with the way he can go past players. His feet are incredible and I’m sure he’s going to get better and better. He’s got everything you need to be a top player.”

Bissouma has previously been described as a “wonderful talent” by ex-Seagulls boss Chris Hughton, and when you look at his stats, it’s clear to see why he’s such hot property.

As per Whoscored, the Mali international averages just shy of three tackles per game in the Premier League (2.9), while he also makes 1.8 interceptions too – compare that to those in the Villa squad, and he’s simply far better, with absolutely no-one matching him in the tackling category, and only Matty Cash topping him for interceptions.

With his time in the Premier League, Bissouma would offer Smith the ready-made proven option that can hit the ground running at Villa Park, and it’s exactly why the club should be looking to muscle their way into the race to sign him this summer.

Meanwhile, this Villa man stole the show vs Spurs…

West Brom fans beg for Yokuslu deal

Fans of West Bromwich Albion have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which Okay Yokuslu reflected on the Baggies’ recent Premier League victory.

Having stunned Chelsea 5-2 in their last Premier League outing prior to Monday’s visit of Southampton, Sam Allardyce’s side registered back-to-back league wins for the first time this season after their 3-0 drubbing of Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team, a result which saw the Baggies’ close the gap on 17th placed Newcastle United to just eight points.

And, in reaction to the victory, the on-loan West Brom star, Okay Yokuslu, took to Twitter, stating his belief that the victory against Saints was a “deserved win”, before calling for his side to “keep fighting” over their seven remaining fixtures of the season.

In response to his tweet, fans of West Brom flocked to have their say on the matter, with many begging the 27-year-old to make his loan deal from Celta de Vigo a permanent move this summer.

Aston Villa: Fans swoon over Grealish tweet

Many Aston Villa fans have been discussing Jack Grealish’s latest tweet, which has elicited a glowing response on the social media platform.

The 25-year-old recently relayed a tweet from the official club account after Aston Villa had posted a video involving actor David Bradley, who was talking about the club and it’s rise and fall through the years. The title of the video was – “They say you don’t choose Aston Villa, it chooses you.”

Bradley was talking about the beauty of fans and how so many Villa fans are connected to the club. The video included footage of the Villans’ greatest moments over the decades.

Grealish shared his admiration for the video, retweeting it with the added comment of: “What a video man ❤️💙 the way I can’t wait to have fans back!! @bradders_david you legend! 🙌🏻”

This came after the European Super League was announced amidst widespread vehement outcry. Even during Leeds’ Premier League against Liverpool, the Whites’ players wore training jerseys in protests of the ESL, while protests were held outside Elland Road (BBC Sport).

Liverpool are among the six English clubs to have signed up to the Super League, while Gary Neville launched a scathing attack on the concept of the ESL.

Grealish’s tweet drew the attention of many Aston Villa fans, who loved the response from the 25-year-old, whose local status and love for the club has often been apparent.

What did Aston Villa fans make of Grealish’s tweet?

SAFC: Fans react to club’s post on Wyke

Fans of Sunderland have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which the club confirmed that the Black Cats centre-forward, Charlie Wyke, has won the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award.

So far this season, Wyke has been in rather remarkable form over his 34 League One appearances for Lee Johnson’s side, bagging 22 goals and registering two assists, as well as averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.39 – ranking him as the club’s best performer in the third tier.

The 28-year-old has particularly impressed for Sunderland this month, with the striker scoring four goals over his six appearances in the league throughout March.

And, it would appear Wyke’s efforts have been recognised by League One fans, as, in a recent post on Twitter, Sunderland confirmed that the centre-forward had been awarded the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award.

In reaction to the news, fans of Sunderland flocked to have their say on the matter, with many heaping a considerable amount of praise on the recent performances of Wyke.

Mourinho must win League Cup to save job

Former Tottenham defender Graham Roberts has told Football FanCast in an exclusive interview that Jose Mourinho must win the Carabao Cup to avoid Daniel Levy wielding the axe.

This comes after The Telegraph reported that the Portuguese coach is fighting for his future in north London following his side’s shock elimination to Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League last month.

Tottenham are also out of the FA Cup and risk missing out on Champions League football next season after taking just one point against Newcastle United and Manchester United, making that League Cup final clash against Manchester City later this month that more important.

And for Roberts, it could be what ends up keeping Mourinho in the dugout at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“I think Jose needs to win the cup,” the Spurs legend told FFC. “If he doesn’t, then he’s had a poor season. He needs to get in the top four. If not the top four, he needs to get into Europe [the Europa League]. And then I think that, you know, the club will make a decision there.

“For me, I’m not a fan of the way we play. I love to see us play good football, but if it wins a trophy playing that way, then it’s fair enough.

“But for me I love… when Poch was manager the way we played, we got to Champions League finals and League Cup and FA Cup semi-finals and things like that, but he never won a trophy. So if Jose wins a trophy then, yeah, I’m sure he will be given another year.”

If Mourinho does end up leaving Tottenham in the summer, one manager the north London club could target as a replacement is Julian Nagelsmann.

According to The Telegraph, the RB Leipzig boss is the top target if Mourinho’s work is deemed unsatisfactory come the end of the season.

City can repeat Gundogan deal with Dahoud

Manchester City have been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud recently and his signing could prove to be a repeat of the deal that saw Ilkay Gundogan join the Citizens in 2016.

According to the Daily Mail, a host of Premier League clubs including City, Chelsea, Everton and Chelsea are all interested in signing the 25-year-old, who has just one year left on his deal with BVB.

The report suggests that City were keen on the midfielder before his move to Dortmund from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2016 and they could reignite their interest this summer as he continues to impress with the Signal Iduna Park outfit.

So far this season, the German international has made just 12 appearances in the Bundesliga, in which he has contributed one goal and no assists, averaging a solid if unspectacular 6.74 WhoScored average match rating for his performances.

However, he has impressed with his displays in the Champions League, as he has averaged a 7.21 WhoScored rating for his performances, which suggests that he can be a top midfielder when on form.

City’s last signing from Borussia Dortmund was the deal which saw Gundogan join in 2016 and he has certainly proven to be a huge success, despite the injury concerns many had when he made the move to the Etihad.

This season in particular has seen the 30-year-old impress, as he has contributed 12 goals and one assist in 23 Premier League appearances, resulting in a superb 7.23 WhoScored rating.

However, the Turkish-born midfielder was not usually renowned for his goals at Manchester City, with his six league goals in the 2018/19 Premier League season his previous best tally.

WhoScored suggests that both Dahoud and Gundogan’s main strengths are their passing and long shots, which suggests that the Dortmund midfielder is a very similar style of player to the 30-year-old and could duly be a big hit at City should he join Guardiola’s side this summer.

Therefore, sporting director Txiki Begiristain should definitely consider bringing the £7.65m-rated midfielder to the Etihad Stadium in the summer, as it could prove to be a repeat of the masterclass which saw them sign Gundogan five years ago.
