Na estreia do Brasileirão, Fluminense Santos fizeram uma grande partida no Maracanã. Foram várias chances para os dois lados, mas o Tricolor acabou vencendo por 3 a 2 porque foi bem mais eficiente. Henrique Dourado marcou duas vezes, Sornoza fez o terceiro e Diego Cavalieri fez a diferença lá atrás.

Por outro lado, o Peixe também teve uma boa atuação e descontou com Victor Ferraz e Vladimir Hernandez, mas Bruno Henrique e Ricardo Oliveira, apesar da insistência, não conseguiram superar o camisa 12 e o travessão adversário.

No meio de semana, os clubes voltam suas atenções para outras competições. O Fluminense enfrenta o Grêmio, pela Copa do Brasil em Porto Alegre. Já o Santos vai visitar o The Stongest, na Bolívia, pela Copa Libertadores.

O JOGO

Cariocas e santistas alternaram o domínio de jogo durante a etapa inicial. O time de Abel Braga começou com tudo. Na direita, a dobradinha entre Wellington Silva e Lucas mostrou que daria trabalho logo de cara. Talvez por conta do horário, o Peixe entrou dormindo e sofreu o castigo. Léo arrancou, deixou Victor Ferraz para trás e cruzou. Bem colocado, Henrique Dourado inaugurou o placar: 1 a 0 aos três minutos.

O gol sofrido valeu para acordar a equipe de Dorival. Com toques rápidos, o Santos passou a ocupar o campo de defesa tricolor. A qualidade estava na esquerda, com Lucas Lima caindo bem por ali. Quando Bruno Henrique conseguiu espaço para fazer o cruzamento, Victor Ferraz surgiu como elemento-surpresa e, sozinho, cabeceou sem sair do chão.

Diego Cavalieri já tinha aparecido com duas boas defesas, mas não teve o que fazer para evitar o empate. O Santos, contraditoriamente, voltou a relaxar, Outra vez, Henrique Dourado castigou. O camisa 9 foi tocado por Jean Mota na área e caiu. Pênalti marcado e cobrado pelo próprio Ceifador, que recolocou o Flu em vantagem antes do intervalo.

O Santos pressionou o time da casa no início da segunda etapa. Bruno Henrique foi quem mais deu trabalho à zaga do Flu. Em falta sofrida por ele, Lucas Lima teve a primeira boa chance, mas não converteu. Depois o próprio atacante finalizou de dentro da área, mas não fez o gol.

Isso porque Diego Cavalieri estava lá e essa foi a diferença. Enquanto o Peixe desperdiçou chances, o Flu foi fatal. Em grande lance de Wendel, a bola chegou para Sornoza na entrada da área. O equatoriano estava apagado, mas mostrou a qualidade na batida e fez um golaço: 3 a 1.

O Santos tentou a resposta imediata, mas acertou o travessão duas vezes com Ricardo Oliveira e Bruno Henrique. Não era mesmo o dia do Peixe, mas o time seguiu insistindo e o jogo ficou aberto, com o contra-ataque à disposição do Flu.

No fim, Abel atendeu o pedido que vinha da arquibancada e lançou Gustavo Scarpa. Recuperado de uma fissura no pé direito, o camisa 10 pelo Fluminense voltou a jogar após mais de dois meses. O gol de Vladimir Hernandez, aos 42, e os seis minutos de acréscimo dado pelo árbitro não diminuíram a festa tricolor.

Michael Carberry and Michael Lumb both recorded unbeaten eighties to ensure against defeat, and they at least will have been pleased for the chance to make runs with increasing ease in the afternoon sun.At the start of the day, Hampshire had nothing to lose but the match – and since they were not inclined towards that option, they could only play for a draw. Somerset, on the other hand, were still in it; 69 runs ahead overnight, on 385 for 7, their first target was to increase their lead and declare.Volume of runs was clearly thought important, as the overnight batsmen – two renowned big-hitters in Ian Blackwell and Alfonso Thomas – never really tried to cut loose but instead looked to accumulate at a reasonable pace. They took their partnership to 84 before Blackwell slashed at a wide ball from Dimitri Mascarenhas and was caught at the wicket for 129; it took him 214 balls and included a six and 13 fours, an unusually small proportion of boundaries for him.Soon afterwards, Thomas fatally indulged in a reverse sweep that presented a gift catch the third man, making 43 off as many as 93 balls, with only two fours. We did see a more typical innings from last man Charl Willoughby, however: he hit his first ball airborne into the covers and the team total closed at 436, a lead of 120. Celtic’s superb run of form continued on Wednesday night as Ange Postecoglou’s side beat AZ Alkmaar 2-0 in the first leg of their Europa League qualifier.

The Hoops have now won their last five matches in all competitions and have scored a whopping 18 goals, conceding four times and keeping three clean sheets.

Kyogo Furuhashi and James Forrest scored the goals for Celtic either side of half time, with David Turnbull setting up the first and Furuhashi turning provider for the second goal.

The Japan international caught the eye with a goal and an assist to bring his name to the fore, but another player was an unsung hero for Postecogliu’s side. Stephen Welsh put in a sensational performance at centre-back and may not get the same applause as Furuhashi due to defending not being as glamorous and scoring and creating goals.

As per FotMob, Furuhashi was the man of the match for Celtic with his performance up front – landing a score of 8.0 against the Dutch side. Welsh, meanwhile, scored an impressive 7.7 for his display, which was the next-highest score in the XI.

Whilst the attacker takes the acclaim and the MOTM award, Welsh should be commended for his commanding showing at the back. Without his important defensive work it could have been a different game for Celtic and we could be sat here speaking about a 2-2 draw or a 3-2 loss instead of a win.

He won four of his five defensive duels and made nine ball recoveries (game-high) during the game, whilst also making six clearances (game-high) from his own box. This shows that he was active defensively throughout the night and was able to stop Joe Hart’s goal from being put under siege by the Eredivisie side. His defending then allowed the likes of Furuhashi, Forrest and Rogic to go about their work in the final third, which means that Welsh provided the solid foundation that the win was built on.

Welsh also had an eye-catching 63 touches of the ball and completed 87% of his passes. Both of these stats were game-leaders for Celtic, showing that he was also able to add ball-playing skills to his defensive expertise – helping the Hoops to progress up and the pitch and retain possession.

Therefore, the £1.2m-rated colossus was Celtic’s unsung hero against Alkmaar. Hopefully, he will be able to turn in a similar performance in the second leg to help the Scottish giants see of their Dutch counterparts.

O goleiro Vanderlei brilhou e se emocionou na partida contra o Coritiba, após a vitória por 1 a 0 (gol de David Braz). O camisa 1 fez 11 defesas na partida, seis delas de alto grau de dificuldade- incluindo uma penalidade. Já nos acréscimos o arqueiro santista pegou o pênalti cobrado por Alessandro, do seu ex-time Coritiba.

Aos prantos, o camisa 1 falou sobre a grande partida realizada na Vila Belmiro e a comparou com o duelo contra Ponte, nas quartas de final do Paulista, quando não conseguiu pegar nenhum pênalti na decisão e o Peixe acabou eliminado (nas cobranças foi 5 a 4 para a Macaca).

– Difícil, né? A gente sempre sonha em fazer uma grande partida, ainda mais contra a minha ex-equipe. Tenho muitos amigos ali, um carinho grande. Estou muito feliz. – A penalidade é complicada. Você tem milésimos de segundo para decidir o que vai fazer. Alecsandro é um cara difícil, tinha diversos cantos para ele chutar. Graças a Deus deu tudo certo. The report adds that while Everton’s bid for the young striker was turned down, they too are expected to go back in with an improved bid while Aston Villa and Brentford are also eyeing up moves of their own.

Dubbed a “shining light” by Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards, Jebbison made his mark towards the back end of last season, notching against Everton – in fact, by finding the back of the net, he became the youngest player in Premier League history to score on his first start at that level.

His former manager at Chorley, Jamie Vermiglio, said: “Jebbo was on loan with us but missed the train before his debut against Chester. It meant he had to get a taxi all the way across.

Given all the impressive youth-team signings Leeds have made over the last 12 months in particular – the likes of Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood in particular – securing a deal for Jebbison could well be another masterclass from Victor Orta.

The 6 foot 3 centre-forward has already got his taste of Premier League football at Sheffield United, and under the coaching and guidance of Bielsa at Elland Road, he could turn into a real superstar.
