Carismático, Andrés Escobar, mais conhecido como Manga – e que declarou preferência em ser chamado pelo apelido -, foi apresentado pelo Vasco no início da noite desta quinta-feira, em São Januário. O colombiano mostrou humildade e fez algumas brincadeiras em conversa com os jornalistas. Sobrou até para Pablo Escobar, narcotraficante da Colômbia, país de Manga. Escobar, que faleceu em 1993, ganhou fama nos últimos anos no Brasil após a série Narcos, do serviço de streaming Netflix.

– Brincam muito pelo meu sobrenome (Escobar). Quando me perguntam se tenho parentesco (com Pablo), digo que é o meu pai (risos) – afirmou Manga, provocando risadas dos presentes na sala de imprensa.

– Quando Escobar morreu, eu ainda não tinha nascido. Ele é um mito – completou.

O Vasco, até o primeiro semestre do ano passado, tinha outro colombiano no elenco: Riascos. Manga afirmou ter conversado com o companheiro e que ele desejou as melhores felicidades no Vasco:

– Eu e Riascos somos da mesma região. Falamos muito. Ele me desejou os melhores êxitos. Vasco é muito grande. Minha característica é a velocidade e habilidade. Quero aproveitar ao máximo essa oportunidade. A expectativa é alta. O Vasco é muito grande.

Manga chega ao Vasco por empréstimo até o fim da temporada, oriundo do Dinamo de Kiev, da Ucrânia. O atacante está regularizado e é uma das opções do técnico Cristovão Borges para a partida deste sábado, contra a Portuguesa, em São Januário.

Steve Howey reckons that Chris Wood would score even more goals should he sign for Aston Villa.

The New Zealand striker is on the back of another impressive campaign in Burnley colours – scoring 12 Premier League goals to not only help keep the Clarets in the league, but to continue his record of having returned double figures in every season at this level.

Wood had only managed four goals in his opening 19 appearances but hit red-hot form by netting eight goals across an eight-game spell between March and May, including a treble in Burnley’s fine win at Wolves.

Such is Wood’s goalscoring exploits for the struggling Clarets, he’s been linked with some bigger sides in the shape of Everton and Aston Villa, whilst he’s also on West Ham’s radar.

All three of those possess far more creative players than Burnley, with Jack Grealish perhaps the best of which at Villa.

And Howey exclusively told Football FanCast that Wood could top his goalscoring tally from this year should he end up at Villa Park this summer:

“He’s awkward to play against. If I’m being critical, not the best at holding the ball up, but very good at flicking on and gets his goals. Strikers that score goals, the amount that he’s scored in the Premier League, is a good striker.

“And if he goes to a team that are more creative, he could get a lot of goals.”

أعلن نادي مانشستر يونايتد الإنجليزي، أن الدولي البرتغالي كريستيانو رونالدو، مهاجم الفريق الأول، سيغيب عن مباراة القمة أمام لفربول مساء اليوم.

ويستضيف ليفربول نظيره مانشستر يونايتد مساء اليوم الثلاثاء في مباراة على ملعب أنفيلد، في مباراة مؤجلة من الجولة 30 بالدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

Harris’ first-class season’s average dipped under 100 for the first time since Christmas when he was hurried up by a short ball from Tuffey, the other man not required after being called up by the CLEAR Black Caps for the Wellington Test.Tuffey, 23, said, “I wanted to get him out lbw. I keep giving him a bit of stick about him thrusting his pad out, but it was just good to get the top order out.”Canterbury reached 284/7 in perfect conditions at the Village Green mainly due to captain Gary Stead (56) and in-form Peter Fulton (66), who added 130 for the sixth wicket. Their fifties came off 98 and 113 deliveries respectively as Canterbury had its most successful period in mid-afternoon.Having bowled 27 overs on a hot day on a perfect batting pitch, Tuffey’s six for 46 was his first five-wicket haul of the season.The day’s other star, Fulton, hit spinner Bruce Martin for two sixes, one straight and one over mid-wicket and gave no chances in his 133-ball innings. Aston Villa have been tipped as a possible destination for Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli this summer by pundit Dean Windass.

And a number of Villa fans have been sharing their thoughts on a potential move on social media.

Alli struggled for game time in north London last season, starting just seven Premier League games under both Jose Mourinho and Ryan Mason during the 2020/21 campaign.

His future at Spurs remains uncertain following Nuno Espirito Santo’s appointment in the capital, and Windass feels Villa should be looking at the 25-year-old as a potential summer addition.

Windass, talking to Football Fancast, relayed by Birmingham Live, tipped Villa to move for Alli, with or without Jack Grealish.

“I think that would suit Dele Alli, he would be a big player for Villa. I know he’s a different type of player to Jack, but with him being young and English.

“Dele wants to play, players want to play, they’re not happy when they’re not playing. Would be a good fit for Villa even if they keep Jack, to strengthen the team, he would be unbelievable.

“They would probably want £50m-£60m for Dele Alli, but that’s the type of player Dean Smith would want to bring in if Jack left.”
