According to an update courtesy of ESPN, Tottenham are one of a number of clubs ‘interested’ in snapping up Schalke midfield star Weston McKennie – with chairman Daniel Levy having ‘monitored’ the USA international over the last few months alongside Newcastle United, Leicester City, Everton, Chelsea and Southampton. 

McKennie, at just 21-years-old, has already totalled 19 international caps for his country and featured regularly for the Bundesliga giants throughout 2019/2020 – scoring three goals and averaging an 80.9% pass accuracy in midfield according to WhoScored.

The youngster, as a result, is being monitored by top Premier League sides ahead of the looming 2020/2021 campaign which starts as early as mid-September.

As per ESPN, Southampton currently lead the race for his signature, with McKennie potentially seen as a replacement for new Tottenham signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

However, this report also states that Spurs have shown an ‘interest’ recently – and ex-Lilywhites forward Darren Bent has labelled him a ‘very Spursy signing’ when commenting on the links last month (Football Insider).

Valued at £20 million, the American could certainly fall under Levy’s tightened budget this summer, even with Hojbjerg secured, and there appears to be a plethora of reasons to re-enter the transfer race.

Ex-Premier League boss David Wagner hailed McKennie as an ‘outstanding talent’ and claimed he could go on to become ‘one of the best midfielders’ in the German top flight (Bundesliga).

Bent also called it a ‘very doable’ signing from Tottenham’s perspective, and given manager Jose Mourinho’s goal of qualifying for the Champions League next season, he could need all the help he can get.

وشارك حسين الشحات، لاعب النادي الأهلي، في المران الجماعي للفريق الذي أقيم مساء اليوم على ملعب التتش.

واشتكى الشحات من إجهاد في العضلة الضامة، وشارك في المران الجماعي اليوم بعد خضوعه لبرنامج تأهيلي تحت إشراف الجهاز الطبي.

وخضع الشحات لفحص طبي قبل انطلاق المران للتأكد من تعافيه بشكل تام، قبل مشاركته في التدريبات بصورة طبيعية.

وكان الثنائي طاهر محمد طاهر ومحمود كهربا قد شاركا في المران الجماعي قبل ودية الغابة، بعد شكوى الثنائي من حالة إجهاد عضلي.

وعقد بيتسو موسيماني، المدير الفني للفريق، محاضرة نظرية مع اللاعبين داخل ملعب التتش قبل انطلاق المران للحديث عن تحديات المرحلة المقبلة.

كما خاض حراس مرمى الأهلي تدريباتهم تحت إشراف يانكون ميشيل مدرب الحراس.

ومنح الجهاز الفني محمد شريف، لاعب الفريق، راحة 3 أيام من التدريبات الجماعية، بعد خروجه من قائمة المنتخب التي تخوض لقائي ليبيا في التصفيات المؤهلة لكأس العالم 2022.

وحرص الجهاز الفني على منح محمد شريف راحة من التدريبات، فيما شهد مران اليوم مشاركة محمد مجدي أفشة بناء على رغبته.

عاد لاعب وسط فريق تشيلسي نجولو كانتي إلى تدريبات النادي الإنجليزي، وذلك بعد تعافيه من فيروس كورونا، كوفيد 19.

وكان كانتي قد غاب عن الهزيمة أمام يوفنتوس في دوري أبطال أوروبا، والفوز على ساوثهامبتون في الدوري الإنجليزي، بعد إصابته بفيروس كورونا.

وتعافى نجولو كانتي من فيروس كورونا حاليًا حيث شارك في التدريبات رفقة زملائه في تشيلسي، الذين لا يشاركون رفقة منتخباتهم في التوقف الدولي الحالي.

وذكرت صحيفة “ذا صن” الإنجليزية أنه ليس من المعروف ما إذا كان كانتي قد تلقى اللقاح الخاص بفيروس كورونا أم لا.

Tottenham Hotspur are not interested in signing Jesse Lingard or Wout Weghorst in the current transfer window, that is according to reliable football.london journalist Alasdair Gold.

It has been a busy few weeks for Spurs who have moved to bolster their squad for the 2020/21 campaign. Joe Hart, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Matt Doherty were all brought in prior to the season kicking off, whilst Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale have now also arrived.

However, it seems that the spending won’t stop there as Jose Mourinho has admitted that he still wants another two additions before the window closes in early October.

Two names who have been linked with moves to north London are Lingard and Weghorst. The Times suggested that Mourinho was keen to reunite with the £15.75m-valued Manchester United midfielder, with The Mirror then claiming that any move hinged on Dele Alli’s future.

Meanwhile Weghorst, who is valued at £27m, has been touted to join Spurs by De Telegraaf, who suggest that he is seen as an ideal back-up option to star striker Harry Kane.

But links to both players have now been downplayed by Gold, who has suggested that “links with Spurs looking to sign Jesse Lingard and/or Wout Weghorst are wide of the mark.”

Lingard has struggled for game time at Old Trafford recently under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, making just five Premier League appearances for the Red Devils during 2020, just one of which was a start (Transfermarkt).

Weghorst on the other hand has been a regular for Wolfsburg and was prolific in the Bundesliga last season, netting 16 goals in 32 appearances whilst also chipping in with three assists.

However, whilst it seems that Mourinho is keen on a couple more additions in the next few weeks, including a back-up striker, it looks as though these two players will not be following Bale and co through the door at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Portsmouth are looking to move Paul Downing on after the arrival of Danish defender Rasmus Nicolaisen, according to The News.

With the summer transfer window currently open, manager Kenny Jackett has opted to bolster his defensive options, bringing in the likes of Cameron Pring, Callum Johnson and Sean Raggett.

Following that trio of new signings, Jackett also agreed a deal to bring in Nicolaisen earlier this week..

The youngster’s arrival to Fratton Park has added strength in depth at the back for Pompey but a latest report has now claimed that Downing could be set to leave as a result.

The 28-year-old defender, valued at £225k, arrived at the club in 2019 after leaving Blackburn Rovers and has since made 16 appearances for the first team.

Downing’s chances of appearing for Jackett’s side in the starting eleven do seem to be in doubt with the likes of Raggett, Nicolaisen and Jack Whatmough all vying for a place.

A poor start to the new League One season for Pompey has seen them fail to find the back of the net, but they have kept two clean sheets in consecutive 0-0 draws against Shrewsbury Town and Rochdale without Downing’s involvement.

Downing is better off moving elsewhere and finding first team football, as his Portsmouth spell has not really gone according to plan.

Limited appearances and the fact he is now fourth choice leaves him with little chance of appearing in what is set to be one of Portsmouth’s most important campaigns to date, given that they must ensure promotion.

وقال إلماس في تصريحات نقلتها شبكة “فوت ماك” التركية: “بوردو كان يريد التعاقد مع مصطفى محمد في الصيف”.

وأضاف: “لقد تحدثنا مع مصطفى وقال (إذا كان هُناك اهتمام حقًا، فأنا أود الذهاب)، ثم سمحنا له بالتواجد هُناك”.

وأنهى تصريحاته قائلًا: “ولكن خلال مشاوراتنا وحديثنا في ذلك الوقت، قررنا ألا تتم هذه الخطوة”.

A somewhat surprising exit on transfer deadline day earlier this week was West Ham’s sale of Josh Cullen to Belgian side Anderlecht.

The 24-year-old started his career at the east London club, per Transfermarkt, joining them at the age of nine, and hence being ‘one of our own’ for the Irons faithful.

He has been loaned out multiple times during his career to teams such as Charlton Athletic. Bolton and Bradford, per Transfermarkt. His 141 appearances on loan seemed to have given him valuable experience to progress to the first team at West Ham.

However, Cullen only featured 10 times at senior level for the Irons and clearly became surplus to requirements, so the move seems to benefit all parties. Many West Ham fans have flocked to an emotional tweet from the player in which he said his farewells and they sent him their best wishes as he departs.

With another academy prospect in Grady Diangana also leaving London Stadium this summer, it seems that some fans believe academy stars like Cullen “deserved better”.
