اعترف روبرتو مارتينيز المدير الفني لمنتخب بلجيكا، أن إيدن هازارد، لاعب ريال مدريد، يمر بعام مؤسف، لكنه واثق من أن العام المقبل سيكون ناجحًا للاعب.

وعاني هازارد هذا العام من الإصابات العضلية، وأصيب مؤخرًا بفيروس كورونا (كوفيد 19).

ونشرت صحيفة “موندو ديبورتيفو” الإسبانية، تصريحات مارتينيز في مؤتمر صحفي قبل مواجهة بلجيكا والدنمارك في دوري الامم الأوروبية.

وقال مارتينيز: “كنا نتطلع إلى رؤية هازارد يلعب مع بلجيكا في عام 2020، لقد كان سيء الحظ، لكنني أعتقد أن عام 2021 سيكون رائعًا بالنسبة له وسيستعيد أفضل نسخة له”.

وفي نفس المؤتمر الصحفي، قال تيبو كورتوا حارس مرمى بلجيكا وريال مدريد إنه كان على اتصال بزميله في الفريق لكنه أكد أنه لا يعرف ما إذا كانت الاختبارات لا تزال إيجابية بالنسبة لـPCR.

وأكد حارس المرمى: “غيابه يؤثرعلى المجموعة، دعونا نأمل أن يختفي الفيروس، لكن لدينا ما يكفي من الكفاءة للقيام بما يتعين علينا القيام به”.

Daniel James has all but agreed his big transfer from Swansea to Manchester United, Sky Sports understands, as personal terms have already been dealt with.

The young winger is set to follow the footsteps of many more before him and is bound to become another player on the Swans’ departure list for a reported fee of £15m.

The story behind the talk

Sky Sports believe the deal is yet to be fully concluded but it is definitely close. James was Leeds bound in January but that transfer broke down on deadline day.

The 21-year-old forward seems to be keen to leave Swansea behind as his contract comes towards its end with one year left to go. Seeing how that’s the case, the Red Devils will get a discount as the sellers risk losing a big asset for free if they don’t act now.

The same source also claims that a number of other suitors are following the situation closely so the outcome is still pretty much in the air.

Demons of the past

While the general opinion is very much Manchester United oriented and in praise of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s bold and ambitious move, it’s still an easy trap for Swansea and James to fall into.

Sure, the big money move to a Premier League giant is a clear dream for any Championship players but it also isn’t necessarily the right one by default. James doesn’t have to look far back to find clear proof of this being the case as the peculiar case of their ex-star Wilfried Bony.

The Ivorian national was quite a big thing for the Swans but a change of scenery as big as a move to Manchester City pretty much put his development and a bright future on hold. Fast forward a season later and he’s out of the team and cutting through loan deals like a hot knife through butter.

A big transfer can break a career just as easily as it can make one and choosing the right time, as well as the right destination, is key here. Swansea might very well be a selling club and one showing a clear lack of ambition at the moment, but they should also be an option James shouldn’t discard so quickly for the sake of his own development.

James Tavernier has been singled out for praise by former teammate Russell Martin, who has described the Rangers captain as ‘the best player in Scotland’, as reported by The Daily Record.

What’s he said?

Martin of course knows Tavernier very well having played with him for six months prior to Steven Gerrard’s arrival at Ibrox.

He was signed when Graeme Murty was in charge of the club following the failed tenure of Pedro Caixinha but did not win a permanent deal after a loan spell.

The central defender is in no doubt who the best player was while he was at Ibrox, believing that Tavernier not only stands out as Rangers’ top star, but also as the best talent in the country.

As quoted by The Daily Record, the 33-year-old said:

Last season was the toughest of my career. I saw both sides of the game, players who assume responsibility and those who don’t.

That will be invaluable for me as someone who wants to be a coach and a manager.

I believe Rangers have the best player in Scotland in the shape of James. What he does in terms of a right-back is incredible. He drives the team forward by what he does, scoring goals and leading by example.

He’s not an old-school captain in terms of ranting and raving but there are guys who lead by character and others who lead by example. Tav steps up during times of adversity and has got better season after season.

Is he right?

Tavernier’s importance to Rangers is undeniable.

Some supporters have questioned his leadership abilities this season, especially after some disappointing results, but clearly he is the player the rest of the squad look to and you can’t question his desire to push Rangers on and impact football matches.

He takes a great amount of pressure on his shoulders stepping up to take spot-kicks and his 17 goals this season is evidence enough he can handle that with aplomb.

With an unbelievable 20 assists too, is there another player who shows as much ambition to get forward and create opportunities for his team?

As for the title of ‘best in Scotland’, well that’s a little harder to justify given some of the other players both at Rangers and in the league. Ibrox fans won’t care about that though, most are perfectly happy with what he contributes as it stands.

The disappointment of failing to win promotion back to the Championship will surely still be felt at Sunderland.

The Black Cats will have to spend another year in England’s third tier as they look to get back to where they belong after a disastrous few years in football.

However, it appears that may not have been the only thing that was a disaster for the club in recent memory as decisions made by certain individuals can always come back to haunt a side in more ways than one.

Especially within the transfer market as sometimes a player can turn out to be a worldie after deciding against a move for him and then fit into the category of being ‘one that got away’.

One That Got Away – Ivan Rakitic and Sunderland

And, Ivan Rakitic is one such player that Sunderland decided against bringing to the Stadium of Light in the past.

According to a report by the Chronicle Live, the Black Cats decided to turn down the opportunity to bring the Croatian star in 2010 as Schalke 04 were prepared to let him go as the then-22-year-old only had a couple of months left on his contract.

It would have meant the Wearsiders would have paid less than £400,000 in compensation to the German Bundesliga club.

Chronicle Live also suggested that there was a feeling that he was very keen on a Premier League move at the time.

Ian Atkins, who was the former chief European scout, confirmed that Steve Bruce’s side decided against the move and he would ultimately join Sevilla before heading to Barcelona and becoming a star.

Obviously, it is difficult to predict how well a player’s future will turn out, however, it seems Rakitic made the most of his and has earned a number of honours throughout his playing career.

To highlight just how good he has become, Transfermarkt have valued the 31-year-old at a cool £45million after helping Barcelona to a number of La Liga trophies and a Champions League title, whilst he also played a significant role for Croatia last summer in Russia as they reached the World Cup final.

Sunderland have made some shocking decisions in terms of recruitment for a number of years and there a number of players that have arrived at the Stadium of Light that have further highlighted that point – Lamine Kone, Papy Djilobodji and Didier Ndong are just a couple of examples.

Hopefully, Jack Ross will have been able to sort out those problems and not make any of the same mistakes his predecessors have made in the current transfer window.

Hindsight can be a wonderful thing at times, however, it will surely have left Sunderland regretting the decision not to sign Rakitic when they had the chance.

The dust has finally settled on what was a poor game of football on Saturday night as the curtains closed on the 2018/19 Champions League season. Liverpool the champions of Europe for a 6th time with Spurs falling short at the final hurdle.

To ensure it isn’t their last title for a while though, Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp need to listen to a former Anfield hitman.

Stan Collymore, who has never failed to voice his opinion when it comes to his former clubs, has chimed in with what he believes should be high up on Klopp’s shopping list as we nose dive into yet another transfer window.

What did he say?

The comments from the ex-Red have come in an article written in The Daily Mirror, and Collymore has claimed that if Klopp is to splash the cash this summer then he will need to secure another striker to give Roberto Firmino some real competition for a starting spot at Anfield over the next few years.

In some cases, Collymore can come out with some rubbish, but he’s got this one right.

Now 48-years-old, Collymore said: “On the pitch, Klopp needs a midfielder who, like Fernandinho at City, will function at 9.8/10 over a season and a striker who will challenge Roberto Firmino on a regular basis, as well as a couple more to flesh out the squad.”

Sorry Firmino

We know, there is a particular Belgian striker who scored in Madrid and is expected to receive a bumper new contract for his efforts, but hear us out.

The Anfield faithful will all be in agreement on the fact that Divock Origi is not starting quality and should remain a ‘super-sub’ in every sense of the term. Meanwhile, as Firmino starts almost week in week out he needs some decent competition.

If Klopp does decide to take this advice on board then it shouldn’t be too hard for him to bring someone in who can outdo the Brazilian. At times it seems that Firmino isn’t even a striker at all. He often drifts wide and drops deep to allow room for Mo Salah and Sadio Mane to run riot, but when the Kopites need a proper frontman to wreak havoc in big games, the Brazilian has often come up short.

Whoever does come to Anfield, they’d ideally have a perfect blend of Origi and Firmino’s best qualities.

The Belgian striker doesn’t have the technical ability to star in a Klopp system but he’s an ice-cold killer in front of goal and can score big goals, yet Firmino has the work-rate, the link-up play and the ability to adapt to a number of systems that Klopp can deploy.

Bringing in a star who has the best of both would not go amiss, but it could limit Firmino’s game time significantly.

وقال مورينيو، متحدثًا إلى قناة “سكاي سبورتس”: “كانت مباراة كبيرة بكل معنى الكلمة، ليس فقط لأنها كانت مباراة توتنهام وآرسنال”.

A number of Liverpool fans have called for Jurgen Klopp to promote Adam Lewis to second-choice left-back for the 2019-20 campaign.

Andrew Robertson enjoyed an excellent season for the Reds and has nailed down the starting position at left full-back for the Merseyside giants.

However, Alberto Moreno’s departure means that the Champions League winners are short when it comes to backup for Robertson.

A number of the club’s supporters, however, feel that Lewis is ready to make the step into the first-team picture despite his lack of experience.

The 19-year-old, who signed a new long-term contract with the Reds in February, made 21 league appearances for Liverpool’s Under-23 side last term.
